Vitiligo vs Fever Coat vs Smoke Color
Some may confuse these three things because of their similar appearances.
Tumblr media
This is vitiligo ↑↑↑
They are not born with this condition (if they are, it may be a case of chimerism), it shows up as they age. The white/unpigmented spots will grow and develop all over. Don't worry, it isn't harmful. It's just like human vitiligo!
Tumblr media
This is fever coat ↑↑↑
It's a rare condition in which the mama cat undergoes severe stress or an illness that causes a spike in body temperature during pregnancy. Prior to birth, the pigmentation of a kitten's coat is very sensitive to heat. When the kittens are born, you will notice white/frosted tips of fur along the body. Fortunately, this has no negative effect on them. Their original coat color is still written in their DNA and may take from 4 months up to a year to present itself.

This is a smoke pattern ↑↑↑
These cats have black fur with white roots. They are also born this way and keep this marvelous color. For longhair smokes, their mane and any other section where the fur is longer will look white.

do not declaw your cat. do not do it. it is mutilation. it is traumatizing to them. their claws are their first line of defense - you take away that? now they're scared. now, they have to resort to biting to defend themselves. or maybe they just avoid everything, so they wont have to defend themselves. and then they also get insecure in their surroundings, and go outside the litter box. or get hostile towards new people. and remember how i said it's mutilation? yeah. you're not just removing their claws. you are removing their first knuckle. would you like the tips of all your fingers and toes removed? no? dont fucking do it to your cat.
if you do this to your cat knowing all of the above, you should not have pets or children. do not declaw your cat. and do not punish your cat either. no spray bottle. no yelling. no time out. modify the environment and use positive behavior reinforcement. rehome them if you are unable to do that. they will be happier and healthier in a home that can take care of them and teach them how to behave safely and healthily. if you love your cat, do that for them. do. not. hurt. them.
also stop forcing your cat to do things for your enjoyment, or for internet clout. learn their body language. respect their boundaries. if it would be unpleasant or abusive to a child, don't do it to your cat. they deserve better.

I know this a weird question, but how will you go about they/them + neopronouns in your story when it comes to writing? I've written them into my stories before but I've had people say its confusing to read and makes the text make no sense.
Not a weird question at all!! I’m actually flattered that people ask questions to this degree for me to answer; it makes me feel like a Real Writer, offerin’ advice, as silly as it is ^^’
So when it comes to neopronouns, I personally don’t really understand them, but I think they’re important and I want to include them and provide ample representation for them! Many of my characters have multiple sets of pronouns (for example, Raven using he/they), and I completely understand that sometimes it can get confusing, but that’s just writing. Writing gets confusing! It can get cluttered! And that’s okay!
I know that a lot of people don’t like using “descriptor phrases” (like: “the blonde man”, “the green-eyed woman”, etc) when it comes to differentiating characters, but I personally really like it so I use it a lot lol, especially where cats are involved. Saying things like “the sleek black cat”, “the dual-eyed tom”, “the towering, powerful molly” is not only fun to write, but it helps to propel the story along in a natural sense and negates the need for personal pronouns at all. I also think people don’t like using said descriptor phrases because they feel flat and can easily get overused, so I try to give mine a little bit of flare and make em’ funky lol.
My advice ultimately boils down to: don’t rely on pronouns quite so much. Let your writing flow! But most importantly: don’t worry about it too much!! Obviously take the criticism you’re given, but don’t fuss over it too hard.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E and Top Gun Fusion - Hangster & Icemav [part 5]
[Before the GunTop Agency Debacle –unofficially called the Wingvorce by Ice and Mav's colleagues–, when they were still partners.]
Agent Iceman invites his partner, Agent Maverick, to dinner. It’s supposedly to celebrate the latest accomplished mission, but it’s in fact a date. They’re in a cute little Mexican restaurant, eating spicy food.
Maverick is talking excitedly about what happened during the mission, when both agents were separated, and Mav ended up in a fight with a MiG agent. Iceman is listening, a bit distractedly, to his love partner while drinking a lemon juice. (He’s not particularly fond of spicy food, however, he’s fond of –t–his spicy-loving dumbass.)
Mav: …and we were in the men toilets, smashing the doors and everything. And then I did him good, Ice, very good. I double-fisted him real hard!
Ice is doing a very good impression of a spitting alpaca on a poor waiter who came to ask them if they wanted a dessert.
Tumblr media
Ice: YOU DID WHAT?!
Mav: Yeah, you know, the double-fist move. I got tone and knocked him out quickly after that.
Tumblr media
Ice, relieved: Yeah. Of course. Thank fuck… Well done, Mav. Do you want a dessert?
Mav: Sure. I want the fried thingies with the milk jam.
Ice to the server: dos raciones de churros con dulce de leche y chocolate, por fa.

Cats that live together sometimes rub each others heads to show that they have no intention of fighting. Young cats do this more often, especially when they are excited.

i actually do kinda like delivering groceries on the side because it gives me such a unique cross-section of the community. i never know whose groceries im shopping for until i finish the delivery and see them/their home and it's like it adds more detail to the picture of who they are. the baby supplies going to the apartment that i know for a fact is one bedroom (they'll be moving soon - i bet they're apartment hunting, i hope they find a place). the new cat litter box, bowl, and kitten food going to the house covered in "i <3 my dog" paraphernalia (a kitten definitely showed up on the porch recently and made itself at home). the fairly healthy boring grocery order that includes an incongruous tub of candy-filled ice cream going to the home of an elderly woman with toddler toys in the yard (it's clearly for her grandkids, whom she sees often).
shopping for someone else's groceries is a fairly intimate thing. i've bought condoms and pregnancy tests, allergy medicine and nyquil, baby benadryl and teething gel, a huge pile of veggies paired with an equally huge pile of junk food, tampons and shampoo and closet organizers and ant traps and deodorizing shoe inserts and a million other little things that tell a million different stories in their endless combinations. one time someone had me buy one single green bean. i messaged them to confirm that's actually what they wanted, and they said yes - neither of them liked green beans very much, but they had a baby they were introducing to solid foods, and they wanted to let him try one to see if he liked them. another time i had someone request 50 fresh roma tomatoes - not for a restaurant, but for a person in an apartment. the kitchen behind them smelled like basil and garlic when they opened the door. another time i brought groceries to three elderly blind women who share a house. that was one of the few times i have ever broken my rule and gone inside a place i've delivered to, because they asked if i could place the grocery bags in a specific location in the kitchen for them to work on unloading and there was no way i was going to refuse helping.
i gripe about the poor tippers, but people can also be incredibly kind. one time i took shelter from a sudden vicious hailstorm inside an older lady's home in a trailer park, while i was in the middle of delivering her groceries. we both huddled just inside the door, watching in shock as golf-ball-sized hail swept through for about five minutes and then disappeared. she handed me an extra $10 bill on my way out the door.
when covid was at its deadliest, people would leave extra (often lysol-scented) cash tips and thank-you notes for me taped to the door or partially under the mat. i especially loved the clearly kid-drawn thank you notes with marker renderings of blobby people in masks, or trees, or rainbows. in summer of 2020 i delivered to a nice older couple who lived outside of town in the hills, and they insisted i take a huge double handful of extra disposable gloves and masks to wear while shopping - those were hard to find in stores at the time, but they wanted me to have some of their supply and wouldn't take no for an answer.
anyway. all this to say people are mostly good, or at least trying to be, despite my complaints.
